This vibrant city has a long history of colonization. The Portuguese were responsible for the construction of the massive stone walls that still surround the old medina of Essaouira. This, among other reasons, is why it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
We leave Marrakech at 8:30 AM and head to Essaouira with a few stops in the villages chichaoua, and Sidi Al Mokhtar.
Another unique site is “La Scala” The Ramparts – Take a stroll along the old Portuguese ramparts as the sun sets over the Atlantic Ocean. Listen to the waves crash and watch as the world transforms into hues of orange, pink, and red.
Make sure to bring your camera! After lunch in a restaurant, you will be able to discover the medina famed for its multiple crafts like woodworking, inlay, leather, copper and souiri crafts as well as fish and spice markets, bustling souks, and relaxing cafes. After a full day spent enjoying Essaouira treasures.
